Welcome to my website!

This site reflects little bursts of inspiration and thought - through writing and photography.  I like to credit anything that blesses you as simply God flowing through me...and anything that doesn't...well, that would just be my mere thinking out loud!  :)

May there be more of God's inspiration than Kim's thoughts...and may you be greatly encouraged and blessed as you browse through this collection of offerings!

Feel free to scroll through the above mini-gallery by placing mouse on the arrows.  (Note: Some devices do not show or allow this option.  Also, some devices such as I-Phones show blog pics separated differently than you will view them on a PC.  I have yet to figure out why, but then my humble technology accomplishments are doing well to even have a blog!)  Check out the gallery of photos if you like color and photography.  At the bottom/left of each page is a small arrow to view previous posts.  There are many.

Trees

The trees above the valley low

Where the waters wildly flow

Seem to watch it all go by

Never worry, never cry

Always standing tall and brave

In the sun and in the rain

Steady, sturdy, holding fast

Roots gone deep, a trunk that lasts

When the winter hurls its cold

The boughs retain their constant hold

And when the springtime warms again

Tiny leaflets start to grin

The sun will nourish and they burst

Into the glorious leaves - the first

Of all the season's new delight

They will shelter from the bright

And fearless sun that can be harsh

Always shading every heart

From summertime and endless heat

Once again, obliged to greet

The fall in all its artistry

Orange and red, the canopy

Smiling still and standing tall

Never questioning its call

Oh that I might sink my roots

Deeper still, and firmly too

Into the rock that oversees

All that flows beneath the trees

Walk the Path

September 22, 2017  •  Leave a Comment

I want to cast my worries far

Throw a pillow in my car

Take a drive that points me home

Walk the woods I used to roam

Hear the laughter of the creek

Roll my pants and dip my feet

Watch the foliage start to fall

Quietly, no sound at all

Hear the rustle of the breeze

Stirring dried and golden leaves

Wander down a gravel road

Sun rays warming, hints of cold

Squirrels scurry, storing food

Knowing that the cold comes soon

I could joy in standing there

Where my roots also prepared

One like me to walk the path

Of life's unseen, the good, the bad

A Kincaid kinda moment

Taken a few years ago at my cousin's place outside of Farmington Missouri.  It is truly a Kincaid kind of setting!

Fabulous fall

Well, summer is rearing it's head once more this week, bringing hot and very humid weather.  I'm not a fan.  However, I have heard said that a big part of the joy we experience in life is the anticipation of those coming experiences.  I simply JOY in the very THOUGHT of fall!  I look at photos such as this one and take vicarious pleasure in the knowledge of what is to come!  This year I hope for an especially colorful season, as I do every year!  With the first day of autumn approaching, I know I can endure this doggie summer finale.  Oh to have the freedom to see the flaming woodlands of Vermont, the quaint painted towns of Indiana or the golden Blue Ridge Mountains on a bluebird, cool, October day.  Oh to button up a wool sweater and find myself on a back road path, complete with warm sunshine shooting through orange and red Sassafras canopies!  Oh to taste freshly tapped Maple syrup and smell the wood burning underneath the black iron kettle while it cooks to a thick bubbly delight!  Oh to sit on a home-made quilt beneath floating yellow leaves, holding a hot mug of apple cider.  Hot chili, cornbread, pumpkin bread and apple pie - all tease my tastebuds and memories!  Every year I wait and then truly savor each delicious moment of the season.  Each year, I would love to lengthen its stay.   Here is my "ode" to the coming of fall's fascinating delicacies!

Colors of Tomorrow

  Crystal colors

Blue and green

Mirrored prisms

Sparkling clean

Lighted memories

Shining bright

Casting rainbows

In the night

Beauty grips

My thoughts again

Radiant glory

Is my friend

Twirling, dazzling

Dancing there

Imagination

Without care

Freedom whispers

Come along

Colored future

Join the song

Gone to bed is the setting sun...

"Every song that I write comes from my own personal experience.  i believe the role of an artist is to interpret reality through a system of beliefs and a long-term seeking of truth, in your own life and in the world at large."  Dan Folgelberg
