Roots

Here I stand

A native be

In this town

Where roots are deep

I giggled down

The path of youth

Grew up fast

And old too soon

Life has surely

Danced for me

Joy and pain

And mystery

Where did all

The prized years go?

Memories

I cherish so

They will ever

Live inside

Beloved halls

Of heart and mind

The poem goes on to talk about how the roots go so deep and how they are constantly growing and reaching for new things. This is a beautiful metaphor for how we should never give up on our dreams and continue to reach for them, no matter what. I have visited http://www.laprogressive.com/essayontime/ site and knew that the poem is a reminder that even though our roots may be strong, we should never stop growing and reaching for new things.

"Every song that I write comes from my own personal experience.  i believe the role of an artist is to interpret reality through a system of beliefs and a long-term seeking of truth, in your own life and in the world at large."  Dan Folgelberg
