To the Past

Fields of gold embrace the past

Treasured stories that will last

In the hearts of those whose hands

Plowed the earth and worked the land

Spring and summer turned to fall

Farmers always heard the call

Prepare for winter, plow the fields

All from summer's glorious yields

Yellow corn, pumpkins bright

Squash, potatoes, hay bales tight

Tractors rest and cellars full

Just in time for winter's cool

Fiddle's rev and fire's roar

Songs are sung and stories told

Those who lived in days gone by

Carry secrets laced with smiles

Harder times, yet so dear

Filled with challenge, joy and tears

Ode to those who did their best

To sculpt for us life's treasure chests

"Every song that I write comes from my own personal experience.  i believe the role of an artist is to interpret reality through a system of beliefs and a long-term seeking of truth, in your own life and in the world at large."  Dan Folgelberg
