Tis the Season

Tis the season and I stare

At the twinkling lights up there

On the tinsel in the mall

Where few notice them at all

Bustling shoppers carting style

Yet there seems to be few smiles

If I could, I'd rather be

A thousand places far from these

Staring at a velvet sky

With its decorations bright

Through the pines that whisper sweet

Age-old stories they repeat

I would trade this garland gold

For a walk in fresh, new snow

Silver bells are pretty here

But to a fire I'd draw near

Oh the crackle as it warms

All of me, but first my heart

I enjoyed the bright display

In the stores and halls today

But I long for Christmas cheer

Where sweet memories linger dear

"Every song that I write comes from my own personal experience.  i believe the role of an artist is to interpret reality through a system of beliefs and a long-term seeking of truth, in your own life and in the world at large."  Dan Folgelberg
