Quiet Treasures

One day I walked beneath the pines

And sat upon it's floor

Where moss was green and needles soft

My heart would there explore

The simplest pleasures

Oh so sweet

Colors soft and pure

Cedar scents and gentle breeze

Whispers lush grandeur

All the treasures in the world

Could not ever buy

The peaceful perfect memories

Found beneath that sky

Oh to take another breath

Of that rich, tender pause

Under swaying canopies

Powerful and soft.

Love your comments Jerry. So true. I am one who often takes advantage of these little special times and places....but it seems there are never enough hours to "while away" that perfect kind of a day!

Oh, what an oasis of tranquility in this crazy, modern world that we live in. How wonderful to escape back to a landscape that remains the way God sculpted it. There Is NOT enough money in the world to purchase the peace and tranquility that we find in such places. These places transport us.......taking us away to times of wonderful joy and peace. And these places will always remain there. Sometimes we will visit them in our daily thoughts, or in our dreams. Sometimes we may make a quick visit there, on or way to fulfill some other obligation that looms over us, pulling us away much more quickly than we would wish. But there WILL be days.....sometimes ones that we schedule, and other times that are randomly dropped in our lives.......when one DOES have the time to return to these places. When a person can breath in the deep fragrances, can bask in the glow of the warm sunlight, and can ignore their clocks and the passage of time. Days where the seconds can pass into minutes, the minutes into hours, and the hours into long afternoons of sunsets, twilight and starry nights. As a famous author once wrote, "There are grand and glorious days ahead, grand and glorious days!" May we all cling to and remember with gratitude the opportunities we have had to experience settings such as this.......and may we always find security and comfort in the fact that we will return to their warm embrace again.
