Endless water in the hole!

This "water hole" is a picture of freshness!  The Richards farm in Palmer, just outside of Potosi bubbles over with clear springs, creeks, green fields and bright, smiling wild flowers!  This particular well/spring is called an artesian well.

According to Jerry these kind of of wells go down very deep.  About 50 years ago a lead company drilled this hole to see if there might be enough lead to justify mining on the property.  Apparently they didn't find an adequate mineral vein to make an offer, but they did hit a vein - of water - which has continued to flow to the surface since.

Jerry said that last fall the well seemed to "dry up", but resumed again in the spring, so they are waiting to see if it will continue or need to be pumped in order to continue to produce this fresh, cold supply.

In the meantime, it is a picturesque and very interesting place to stop and "selah" or pause!  :)  I suppose one could ponder the idea that like this spring, God's supply of love, peace, joy and hope is endless.  Unlike natural examples, His supernatural grace never dries up and never runs out!

Jim, I didn't know that!! What a fun story! I wonder if Jerry knows that history. I suppose he does, but I haven't heard him chat about that! Would like to know more!!! Though your dad mined out near old mines?

I could be wrong, but my dad had a Tiff mill plant very near the well. The Ward Crocker family lived in the house where Jerry is now. There was a pole bridge across the creek in front of home back in the day. I think Dad had mine there in the late 40s or very early 50s. Brother David and I went to plant with Dad in the summer and played in creek. Dad would take us up the road to the Old Palmer Store for lunch such as it was. Sometimes Mrs. Crocker would fix lunch for us. It was a wonderful way to grow up.
